XPe SP2 Database Update Problem

Hi there. Just finished downloading the SP2 update and am trying to
install the Database Update. Using SQL2000 on Win2k3 server, and I have
updated the Tools on my XP Pro workstation. I haven't done the Database
Engine Update, as I am running on SQL Server 2000. This is Eval version of
Embedded Studio.

It extracts the files and then starts the installer. I then get this
message :
A new platform object needs to be installed before this update can be
installed. Please download the latest platform update from
<http://www.microsoft.com/embedded> and install it before attempting to
install this QFE.
Setup cannot continue.

And I'm done. I've also tried downloading using XPEFFI.exe but no go there
either. Anybody help me out here ?

Although this is weird that you got that error message while upgrading to SP2 (I'd expect Microsoft included the new Platform object
in the SP2 update), you may need to add one more QFE to your SP1 install before you do the database update:

Just tried that and I actually got the same message for this QFE as the SP2
update. Odd. Would be nicer to know what the prerequisites are.

I don't have a clue then.

Unless you want to try a clean install once again, you may need to escalate the problem to Microsoft support.

Another option is to move database to the XP Pro machine. I know it is an awful suggestion but your problem may be because of the
2K3 server.

OK, will try a fresh install on monday. Only have one component in the DB
so I think I can recreate that easily enough.
