Tools install OK.
When I go to install Database update get:

=====================================================
A new platform object needs to be installed before this update can be
installed. Please download the latest platform update from
<http://www.microsoft.com/embedded> and install it before attempting to
install this QFE.

Setup cannot continue.
=====================================================

Note had to remove previous installation becuase database components for
FP2007 didn't install.

Dear David,

Pleae read "Installing Windows XP Embedded Service Pack 2 Feature Pack
2007 on Windows Vista" article in the help file.

Following is the contents of this article.
When installing Windows XP Embedded Service Pack 2 Feature Pack 2007 on
Windows Vista machines, please observe the following recommendations:

a.. When installing the component database on Windows Vista machines, do
not install MSDE. Instead, please download the SQL Server 2005 Express
Edition from this Microsoft Web site and follow the installation
instructions provided in the download.
b.. Change the default instance name of SQL Express 2005 to MSSQLSERVER
during setup to ensure that the installed embedded studio tools work with
the database.
c.. Do not install Windows Installer 3.1 on Windows Vista.
d.. To run the development tools on a Windows Vista machine, log in as
Local Administrator, run the programs as the Local Administrator, or turn
off User Account Control. For more information on the User Account Control
feature in Vista, please go to this Microsoft Web site.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks for that reply.
I had addressed most of those issues.

I did a further uninstall as well as removed some registry entries.
This time it installed OK.
I suspect that I might have skipped the XPe SP2 install.

Cheers
