XP won't remember Folder View Settings

Just had a problem come up today I've not encountered before.
Windows doesn't seem to remember my view settings anymore. I use the Windows
Classical View with "details" selected on most folders. I use "Icons" view
in the My Computer and Control Panel folders. Been this way since Windows XP
Pro was installed.

For some reason now all folders are opening with the details view no matter
what I do. No matter how many times I change the view to Icons in the
Control Panel, and My Computer they open the next time with the detail view.

I do have the folder view options in the control panel set to "remember
folder options".

I have TweakUI also but I don't see any setting there to affect this and
have not changed anything there in some time. Also I have all the latest
updates to Windows XP Pro.

A goggle search revealed 2 possible fix's one was to hold down the control
key when exiting the folder. The other was to delete 2 registry keys ending
with "BagMRU" and "Bags". No joy with either one.

Anyone have a fix for this??? Appreciate any help

TIA

Hi.

Set the view you want, but when closing the window go to File/Close. The 'x'
is a cancellation device, not a 'Close' device.

Thanks for the link Mike----that did it! I was about to go crazy trying to
figure what I had done wrong. Previously I had visited Kelly's Site
searching for a fix, but could not see anything I thought might apply, that
one didn't jump out at me.

Thanks again

Thanks for responding---but that procedure didn't fix my particular problem.
However, I'll keep that in mind. Never know what the next "bootup" might
bring :)

The actual fix was the one Mike suggested.

Thanks again
