folder options

Except for in the control panel, I would like the "Folders" always to
be displayed in the left hand panel and "Details" in the right hand
panel of any explorer window. I've set these and then selected "Apply
to all folders" in "Tools-Folder Options-View" and have also checked
"Remember each folder's view settings", but each time I open an
explorer the view is reset to display "Icons" only. My computer is
part of a large organization's network, and I have contacted the
system administrator, who has been aware of the problem for years, but
is unable to fix it. I wonder if someone in this newsgroup is able to
shed some light on this problem

For "My Computer" or to modify your Program list on the task bar's
"Start" menu use "Explore" on the context menu (obtained with a right
click).
