XP System Backup

I need to backup the XP system registry in order to fix a
virus I have picked up (Trojan.Popdis). The directions
given by Norton Antivirus say to 'Click
Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Backup. When I
do this there is no "Backup" utility. Can anyone provide
directions on how to backup the registry? Thanks for
your help.

Backup isn't installed by default on Home Edition.

Assuming you have a retail version go to the valueadd\msft\ntbackup folder
on the XP Home Edition cd and install ntbackup manually by double clicking
the file. If you have a custom OEM version, the backup app may not have
been included.

There is a fully functional free trial version of a far more robust backup
app, Backup MyPC, of which ntbackup is simply a lite version available at
the following site:
