XP Pro Won'T Recognize Scanjet 5370c (US)

I have had a good HP Scanjet 5370c for about a year, bought it when
I was still using WIN98. But several months ago, I went to WinXP Pro
and installed all my hardware without problems. Then, recently, when I
needed to reinstall WIN XP PRO because of another problem (caused, I
think by the presence of KAZAA), I ran through all the installation of
the Scanjet 5370c, but now Win XP will not recognize the scanner. I've
tried the update from HP. I've tried disconnecting and reinstalling.
Nothing works. I hate to give up a scanner just to have XP. Please try
to help me! I promise eternal gratitude.

Don't connect a printer to the scanner's parallel pass-through
port in Windows 2000/XP. Connect either the scanner and/or
printer to a USB port.

I have a similar problem with HP Scanjet 3300C posted a"please help me too" but no takers, just seems you have to buy acompatible one. I am sure it's the software not the hardware. I have teid HP site too, no luck..

XP will not accept the HP ScanJet 3300C and HP has no software for XP.

I was so disappointed with XP I went back to 98SE a real Operating System
not a toy like XP.

XP is for the gamers & web site searchers, not a serious business working
system.
