Win XP Pro does not recognize HP ScanJet 5300C

Windows XP Pro does not recognize my HP ScanJet 5300C
scanner - although the WIA (Windows Image Acquisition)
states that the ScanJet 5300c is supported - URL -

I have downloaded the latest drivers from HPs website for
the 5300c and XP - they do not work - Any help would be
appreciated?

Uninstall the SW, unplug the scanner from PC, install the
SW 1st, then plug it in when the install asks.
