USB problems.

My computer locked up hard 3 days ago. When I came back to it, the
mouse pointer was frozen. I rebooted the computer, but when it came
back up, none of my usb devices were working. Device manager lists the
two sets of USB connections on the computer, and I've tried
uninstalling and rebooting 5 or 6 times.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I have a T-Bird 1 Ghz.
1 Gig ram
40 gig internal HD
Windows XP Home SP2

My USB:
Maxtor 1-touch 120 Gig USB drive
HP Scanjet 5370C
Epson Stylus Photo R300 Printer
2 USB palm cradles
USB joystick
USB 4-port hub

Try this remove through control panel all the drivers for your USB devices,
then shut the computer down. Pull the connector for each USB device from the
hub or PC whichever applies. Restart the computer and reinstal the software
which came with say the scanner and restart the PC. Let the PC settle down
and then plug the scanner into the hub/PC and switch on. Windows should
detect a new device and load the scanner driver. Lets see if that works!

I think the problem is a little more aggresive than that. This morning
when I woke up, the computer had locked up again. This time the mouse
was still working, but it was 6:45 in the morning, but the clock on the
computer said 2:21 AM. Now the computer won't even get all the way to
the login screen. And that includes in safe mode.
