XP Pro & USB memory devices

I have a Dell XPS with Win XP Pro with all updates installed and it won't
recognize any of the USB memory
card readers or jump drives I try. I've tried 2 different memory card
readers and 4 different jump drives and it just won't recognize any of them.
I either get a "Unknown Device...No drivers are installed for this device"
error or it will recognize the device and then as soon as I try to access
the info it will loose the device and treat it as if it isn't even connected
at all. And there aren't any drivers for any of them listed on their
websites... at least not for XP. Any ideas what might be going wrong?

I think you need to speak to Dell.
Do you know that the USB ports work ok? Do other USB things work ok?
When I first got my Dell I had a problem with a mouse on a USB port, I rang
Dell and they were very helpful and talked me through loads of tests etc and
in the end we established the USB port (or setup) was the problem, and
unfortunately I had to reinstall windows.... but it worked fine after that
and Dell were a great help.
Good luck,
BCP

I'll give Dell a call, but everything else works on the USB ports (mouse,
printer, and an MP3 player) I just seem to have problems with mass storage
devices.
