XP is shutting down.

Matt

Whenever windows xp starts up on my computer, it starts to load everything,
but then for some reason windows xp shuts down and my computer shuts off for
no apparent reason. I have found though that when i use Ctrl+alt+del and
end the process STARTEAK.exe as soon as windows starts to load, I don't get
this problem of windows xp shutting down.
MY questions are:
1) What is STARTEXE.exe and why does my computer shut down during startup.
2) What can i do to fix this problem

Hello
which is it you are having trouble with
STARTEAK.exe
or
STARTEXE.exe

If it is the STARTEAK.exe that has to do with your Compaq Keyboard
Do a complete virus scan, here are some free ones
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
or
http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php
or
http://us.mcafee.com/root/register.asp

The thing most people do not know is that after they buy a computer with
virus protection installed they have to go in and register and download the
updates and continue to update it or set it to auto update then after a
period of time the subscription will run out usually in 90-180 days at that
time they will have to purchase new protection either online or from a
retail store and at that time they will be able to update for a period of
365 days (1 year).
