Adobe Acrobat and AcctMgr hang upon shut down

M

Mary Ann B.

Whenever I shut down my computer, I get two windows, one for Adobe Acrobat
and then one for AcctMgr, which indicate that the programs need to be shut
down. Here's what the window says:

End Program - AcctMgr (or Adobe Acrobat)
If you choose to end the program immediately you will lose any unsaved data.

Then there is an 'end program' button. Usually the shut down process
proceeds and the computer does shut down. But I'm wondering why I get these
windows.

Adobe technical support knows, but you'll probably find an answer sooner
in their user groups.

Thanks, Nass. When I tried to download install the file in the first link, I
got the following error message:

"Setup has detected that the service pak version of this system is newer
than the update you are applying. There is no need to install this update."

As for the second link, I have *no* idea what to do with that. I don't see
the error message that I am getting.

For the third link, I'm not running HomeSite or ColdFusion Studio 4.5.x so
I'm not sure what the relevance of that is.

Hi Mary Ann , are you just using the Reader , or are you using the
whole Acrobat system ?

I only use Adobe Acrobat Reader. I had been using 7.0 but upgraded today to
9.0. Hoping against hope that that may solve this. :)

Hi Mary-Ann,
Try these tools and reboot and see if that will solve the issue.
User Profile Hive Cleanup Service
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6d-8912-4e18-b570-42470e2f3582&displaylang=en
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

If the above didn't help try to uinstall System work per the instructions on
the link proved earlier.

Uninstall the Adobe reader and then reinstall.

Run disk clean up then reinstall Adobe reader from here:

Have a look at Foxitsoftware - does the same , but faster ; and
PDFXchange . ( Both free ) .

I did the Profile Hive Cleanup Service and installed Adobe Acrobat 9 and that
seemed to solve the problem. Thanks for your help!
