Xp shuts down after it finishes loading

Whenever windows xp starts up on my computer, it starts to load everything, but then for some reason windows xp shuts down and my computer shuts off for no apparent reason. I have found though that when i use Ctrl+alt+del and end the process 'STARTEAK.exe' as soon as windows starts to load, I don't get this problem and windows xp will work fine.
MY questions are
1) What is STARTEXE.exe and why does my computer shut down during startup
2) What can i do to fix this problem
