I have a laptop with XP Home that shutdown yesterday fine, but now when I
startup, the system shows the windows splash, shows what appears to be my
desktop background, and then goes to the Windows XP Logo with the Blue
backgound. The laptop will continue to show the XP Logo. I can attach USB
items and the hard drive activates, but the screen never changes. The mouse
and keyboard still work, but they do not control anything. I have tried to
go into Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Use Last Known Good
Configuration, Debugg, and the other steps after hitting F8. Nothing works.
I do not have my OEM disk (HP) with me. Any suggestions on how to get the
laptop to startup normal would be appreciated.
