Freeze on XP Logo

On start-up, my computer freezes on the Windows XP Logo screen with the blue
background. I've attempted to restart in safe mode or safe mode with a
command prompt. Both instances return me to the same XP Logo screen and
freeze. Please advise.
 
try going back to the windows advanced options menu (f8) and choosing vga
mode....
 
Attempting to run in VGA mode yields the same results. Additoinal advice is
requested.
