XP Error Msg: Print Spooler Service is Not Running?

I have 3 laptops in the home that all Run XP SP2 and go through USR5461
Wireless router hooked up to the main desktop. I have lost printer function
in all 3 laptops, so I assume prob is in the Desktop. On all 3 laptops I get
XP Error Message: "Cannot Display Printer Properties. Print Spooler Service
is Not Running." I have tried everything I can imagine on all 4 computers,
Reinstalled printer software, router, printer driver, Chkd Manage
services..spoolsv.exe is in there and has been stopped and restarted shows
its running OK. Ran ZoneAlarm, AVG, SpyBot - came up with nothing. I ran
HijackThis scan, but most of the readout is like Chinese to me.
Any Ideas or suggesttions would be greatly appreciated.

Can the three notebooks still see the desktop? Can they successfully share
files and folders with it?
