Hello my problem is when im on the internet or a program which uses the
internet my computer tense to crash after a while and the screen goes black,
i think it seems to happen if the connection is dropped as i use (bulldog
broadband) although sometimes when the connection is dropped it doesn't
crash.
Under System failure i've go the Auto restart box unchecked but everytime
the computer crashes the screen just goes black then i have to restart. the
oca crash analyst says a device driver caused it ?

See what Event Viewer has in it's log. Select Start button/ select Run , then type in

eventvwr.msc<enter>
-- or Go to Control Panel / Performance and Maintenance/Administrative Tools >Event Viewer.

Hello Desmond,

Review the sections and look for Errors or Warnings that match the time the event occurred. Double click---the information "may" give a clue.

Check your Ram memory very thoroughly.
You may need to have your RAM memory thoroughly checked out by a good RAM tester program.

MEMTEST86 is another memory test utility & is free.
See http://www.memtest86.com/

I would recommend you download it from a "reliable" pc --- not this one. And do the setup and the diskette on the good system.
Only then take the diskette to the "problem" pc.

See this archived thread (short link below) and review the suggestions by MS-MVP's.

What is the malware status of the system? Are scans done regularly in
safe mode with a combinaton of programs to look for viral and non viral
infections? See these links for help on doing that.
