XBox 360 Controller Causing Problems with Games

On my system, I have installed "The Godfather" and "Titan Quest". They both
play flawlessly. I decided to connect my Xbox 360 controller to use on "The
Godfather". I downloaded and installed the drivers then connected my
controller. When I tried to run "The Godfather", the screen went black, then
went to the desktop and shut down the game. The same thing happens to "Titan
Quest".

To try to solve this problem, I uninstalled the drivers, and reattached the
controller. I launched "The Godfather" and could play the game, but there was
no sound.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Thanks in
advance.
