word printing problems

I have deleted and reinstalled the driver from the original CD for the HP
C4280 printer and for my HP Laserjet 1018. They will both print test pages
from the installation program and emails through Outlook Express but print
(and print preview)no longer works with any MS Office Program or Notepad.
The Hourglass shows indefinitely and I get a "not responding" message when I
try to print (or print preview) in any of these programs. However if I switch
off and then switch on the printer again the normal print box comes up and
the document prints OK (but only once). I have also uninstalled and
reinstalled Office 2000 professional then deleted the printers and
reinstalled from the orignal installation CD again but all to no avail. This
only seems to have happened since I Installed Veho slide scanner with
Photoimpression6 and VRT scanner software recently, is this part of the
problem?

Ok this is a work around but it is cumbersome and I can't help thinking
there is a simple solution that I am missing somewhere. Any helpful
suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Try to find the latest drivers online for the two HP printers and the
Veho slide scanner. If the problem started after you installed the Veho
slide scanner then there may be some incompatibility between the older
HP drivers and the scanner software?

Or you could remove the VRT scanner software and see if that fixes the
problem.

I don't use HP printers and I'm not familiar with Veho. You troubleshoot
problems like this by determining when they started and go from there.
