wireless router setup

Hello,
For purposes of teleworking I'd like to set up a wireless router
connection for
my laptop (it has a wireless card) which has VPN to the office.

Currently, a family member has a DSL modem (Bellsouth svc) connected
directly to his PC and his PC doesn't have a wireless card.

If I set up a wireless network, could he still use the hardwired
connection?

What is the best option for 2 home computers, one with wireless card
and the
other without it to use DSL?

Thanks much!

The best option is to get a wireless router.
The DSL modem will connect to the router.
This will allow hard wiring and wireless.
You also get a hardware firewall.

Yes! It is always recommended to have one PC hardwired to the router so as to
access the router's web based configuration screens when setting the wireless
network access. Also, you can not perform any router firmware upgrades using
the wireless network part. The PC that does the firmware upgrade of the
router MUST be directly wired to the router
