I have purchased a PC for a friend and realised that his Internet connection is by wireless and the new PC does not have a wireless connection, can you get a dongle of some sort that will provide a wireless connection????

THIS is the one I use on my HP G60 laptop which runs Linux Mint. It comes with a mini CD which has the drivers for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Not all wi-fi cards and usb dongles have built in linux support though you cna get almost any of them to work with a bit of fiddling.
A plug and play card or usb is your best bet though.

If you are buying a new computer, it is best to select one with a wireless component that is designed for free software like Linux. A card designed for free software gives you improved support. Free software compatible devices also work out of the box.

I have a PCI card that cost less than £10 and it works fine for me and have some usb donggles that were less than £5 that work well too. They are all slower than todays standards but I do not do a lot of streaming.
Really you would be best getting something that had the latest "ac" connection and USB 3 if you are getting a dongle.

Thanks all for the replies and Information I am doing a favor for a friend and purchased a refurbished cheap PC a Dell OptiPlex with Windows 8 with and 2 core duo CPU,19'' LCD TFT monitor and keyboard and mouse for £88-50 +P&P with a 1 year guarantee it comes with Windows 8. He wants me to put on Linux Mint Cinnamon on it.
My feeling is that the OS Linux Mint Cinnamon should be 32bit and not 64 what are your thoughts on this?
