Wireless Router installation problem.

Through my wi-fi enabled laptop on Windows XP I installed an ADSL Belkin
Wireless G Router. I know the router and installation worked because my iPag
can find and use the connection.

However the wireless icon in the bottom right of my laptop shows that the
wireless connection is "disabled" and I can't enable it. When I try "repair
the connection" I get the error message:

"Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action
cannot be completed: Make sure your network adapter is properly installed."

The only possible problem I think I have identified through the help pages
is that in the properties box of the wireless connection, there is no
"authentication" tab. But I could find nothing in the help pages to tell me
what to do about it.

Open Device Manager, find your wireless NIC, and "uninstall." Windows
should find and re-install it when you re-boot.

Tried that - it merely reinstalls back to its previous state with the same
error message if I try repair.

Perhaps it's something simple, like turning your wireless xmtr on.

This is usually accomplished by a key press in combination with the Fn
key. Check your documentation. Some laptops have a physical switch
somewhere instead of the key press combination.
