Wireless networking

I have a new (to me) Toshiba Satellite laptop with the integrated Atheros
wireless card with the Atheros AR5001X+ chipset. I updated the driver and
the Atheros client from the Toshiba site, and canNOT get this thing to
connect to my D-Link DI-614+ wireless router (broadcast SSID disabled, 128K
WEP encryption). I've tried many different configs of the router (enabling
and disabling WEP, enabling and disabling broadcast SSID, etc.), and using
both WinXP and the Atheros client to manage the wireless connection, and
nothing works. I am able to sniff other wireless networks near mine and
connect to them, so the card clearly works. I can use my D-Link wireless
PCMCIA card to connect, using both the D-Link client software, and WinXP
managed config. Any clues on how to overcome this issue?

Another problem: I have VPN access to my office network. Using my cabled
connection to my router, I can complete the VPN connection and connect to
all the necessary servers. Using my wireless card I can complete the VPN
connection and can ping the servers by name, but cannot access the
applications on those servers (i.e. Exchange Server, VSS). This seems to
point out in differences in configuration between the two network
interfaces, but I have verified that they are identical. I have successfully
used this wireless card with the same router configuration to create a VPN
connection to another office and access internal servers. Any clues about
THIS issue?

On your new computer run "IPCONFIG /all" and note the
details of your system. The on the wireless router, open
setup and set the MAC address and other details to allow the
logon of the new computer.
