Winsock provider

Hello. One of the users of my computer told me that when she went to go
online, she got an error saying there was a problem with the winsock
provider catalog and she went through the troubleshooting section and ended
up resetting the DCHP address then restarted the computer. Everything seems
to be working fine, but I noticed the new IP address that was leased to me
is 192.x.x.x instead of the 65.x.x.x that road runner uses. I can't think
of why this happened in the first place, I'm real good about keeping spyware
and such off my system. Is this something I need to be concerned about?
Thanks in advance.

That's a normal condition if your client PCs are behind a NAT
(Network Address Translation) device such as a Router. To
the public Internet your IP is assigned by your ISP on your LAN
(Local Area Connection) the clients use a 192.x.y.z IP address.

Thanks! The main reason it concerned me was that it's never happened
before. I do have a Linksys NAT router hooked up and sometimes I need to
reset it. Thanks for clearing that up. I'm somewhat savvy when it comes
to networking, but with everything that's going on these days with hacks and
such I because a little worried. Thanks again to all who wrote.

Thanks Karen. It wasn't the fact that I was renewing an IP address as it
was the first triplet in the address itself. 192 instead of 65.
