Thanks to David Webb for providing the information in the previous post. Use
of that info resolved the problem.

If anyone else has a problem with browsers not connecting to the Internet
and diagnostic points to Winsock provider catalog, search here for "Winsock"
to find the solution David gave in a post dated 5/22/07. It's a long post.
David's solution is the last message in it.

Thanks for the feedback, Marty. I'm glad to hear that you got the problem sorted
out.

Just out of curiosity, did the Winsock & TCP/IP repair suggestion alone fix the
problem or did you have to resort to going back to IE6?

Had to go back to IE 6.

Sorry, but I have no experience with these other browsers. I could only suggest
the classic routine: uninstall app/restart system/delete temp files/reinstall
app/pray.

Good luck!

Thanks, David! Everything you suggest was done except 'delete temp files'.
That's worth a try. I'll pass it along to the friends in Romania.
