Hello,
Thank you for posting.
I understand that when WINS MMC is opened, the system displays error
message that it cannot find the WINS Server.
Please try the following suggestions:
1. Check if the "Remote Registry Service" is running on the system. If it
is stopped, please start the service.
2. Enable File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks on the active
network interface if it is not enabled.
I hope the above information helps. If there is anything unclear, please
feel free to let me know. Thank you and have a nice day!
Rashmi

| Hi Everyone,
| I have a WINS problem. I have 2 ADDC's in a 1 tree, 1
| forest domain. I have Wins on one of the ADDC's. It has
| worked for 1 year. Now, I have a big red X on the serve
| of the WINS mmc. It says it can not find the WINS
| server. I have the Server pointing to itself on the
| TCP/IP properties for the WINS tab. I've deleted WINs and
| added it back again. But I still get the big red X.
| Any suggestions?
| KBenson
