Technically Challenged

Neither Ctrl-Alt-Del nor Right clicking in the task bar do not open the task
manager any longer. When I enter "taskmgr" or "taskmgr.exe" in the Start ->
Run box I get the error message: Windows cannot find task manager.

This behavior started yesterday for no apparent reason. Scans using Norton
AV and Webroot AV as well as scans using Ad-Aware, Spybot, Pest Patrol and
Windows Defender reveal no malware. Also, there are copies of taskmger.exe in
both Windows System and the Windows System32 folders.

Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?

Try looking in C:\windows\system32 to see if it is there .

There is not supposed to be a copy of taskmgr.exe in c:\windows. It
should be in c:\windows\system32.

If you browse to your c:\windows\system32 folder and double click
taskmgr.exe does TM launch?

There is another copy of TM in c:\windows\system32\dllcache - if you
double click it does TM launch?
