Winmail receives mail only once post Vista SP1

I applied RTM Vista SP1 yesterday. The biggest annoyances are gone, and I am
enjoying it a bunch.

except

Since the upload, WINMAIL only access mail servers once. When you click on
WINMAIL, it loads, downloads POP mail, connects to IMAP, just as before.

Thereafter no email will come in. If I manually force a receive all, the
dialog for Send/Receive will pop up and claim two errors (for two accounts).
No errors will be displayed on the error tab. The send/receive dialog will
never actually complete - I have to close it manually. This is repeatable.

If I exit WINMAIL and enter again, everything works as it should. Once.

There are no events that are recorded.

Any ideas?

thanks

As a Microsoft beta tester, I've been running Vista's SP1 for quite
some time already, without any issues. I am not aware of anything
in SP1 that affects Windows Mail. It may have been just a coincidence
that your Windows Mail issue started after installing SP1.

Which antivirus are you running? If it is McAfee or Norton, do a trial
uninstall, reboot, then try Windows Mail again.

I got excactly the same problem with WINMAIL (IMAP) after updating Vista with sp1.

I made a test and configured same account to Mozilla Thunderbird. It work fine all the time. After this I made a test with WINMAIL again, with same result. I could download my mails from the mailserver only once. Winmail had also effects on Thunderbird. After used winmail I couldn't anymore download my new mail from the server or send new mails. After restarting my PC, Thunderbird worked fine all the time again.
So it seems to me, that after once used WINMAIL something goes wrong and this effects all mail clients using IMAP.

I have been experiencing the same problem since the SP1 update except I
actually have to restart the computer before i can collect my emails again!
Its driving me mad as I am trying to run a business and don't get on with
Outlook!
Every other mail proam I have looked at isn't Vista compatible or is
expensive....beginning to think changing to Vista was a BIG mistake!

I am running Panda Internet Security 2008, I have tried disableing the Spam
filter it doesn't make a shred of difference! neither does uninstalling it
and reinstalling it.
Does anyone have any sensible ideas that work to fix this problem?

What are the circumstances that caused you to install SP1,
since it hasn't been released to the general public yet?

Is Windows Live Mail one of those other mail programs
you looked at? I find it more stable than Windows Mail.
