Windows Mail Error Message - Driving me Crazy

C

CFS GURU

I've been happily using Winmail for months without a hitch. Then after a
morning or seamless performance I got the follwoing message:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Testing
#9', Account: 'pop.sbcglobal.net', Server: 'smtp.sbcglobal.net', Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '530 5.7.0 Authentication required', Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 530, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

I have tried several fixes (recommended one abote yeilded nothing). I've
deleted my sbcglobal account and re-entered it. I've changed settings and
requirements inside the Winmail accounts/properties/(various tabs) to no
avail. What do I do now. Winmail will not Send or Receive email from this
provider. Help!

It is possible that the gurus have over-analyzed your problem. They do that
sometimes. Are you sure that they email address you are trying to send a
message to is a valid one? You will get the same error message if it isn't.
If the quotes are in the acual address try removing them.

The address (e-mail address removed) is valid and it works.
I would have said something if it wasn't.
