winlogon.exe - Unable to locate???

Hi. I am having this prob and as a poor college guy really don't need the
$79 fee to have someone fix this for me. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP?!?

My Problem: ...turn on my computer (hp Pavilion zt3000) and the generic
blue screen turns up with a window saying:

"winlogon.exe - Unable to Locate Component. X This application has failed
to start because ole32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may
fix this problem.

It's very weird. I can't get to anything and don't want to reinstall stuff
for fear of losing my stuff that's not backed up.

Whomever can advise me on this will be a TRUE HERO. Thanks much....

Adding to Carey, Either try System restore to an earlier date then try to
troubleshoot.
Or try this:

http://www.castlecops.com/p679323-How_do_I_recover_after_loosing_OLE32_DLL.html
Make sure the machine malware/virus free by scanning with an up2date software.
