Windows XP Support Patch for Wi-Fi Protected Access

I've downloaded this patch (#815485), and it seems to
install correctly, but I can't see any evidence that it is
effective. For example, it doesn't show up in Add/Remove
Programs (like other patches I've installed). Also, when
I try to connect to the wireless, it keeps asking me to
input a WEP network key and doesn't say anything about
WPA. The biggest problem I'm having, of course, is that I
just get "wireless connection unavailable" all the time,
even though the desktop clearly "sees" the network, so I'm
wondering if it has anything to do with this WEP/WPA
thing. Any thoughts appreciated. For what it's worth,
I'm running a Linksys WRTG54G wireless router and a
Linksys WMP54G PCI Adapter, both of which have the most
current drivers. Thanks.

You probably figured this out already, but you need to
upgrade the firmware on your router, then you also
probably need to upgrade the driver for your wireless
card in your computer. Took me 2 hours to figure that
out after I downloaded the patch, now it works. Be
forewarned, with WPA enabled, I am having intermittent
internet connection problems on my wireless that don't
have using WEP. Can't figure that one out.
