Here's a puzzler that probably has a simple solution, but it eludes me.
I installed a new Linksys WPC54g(V3) notebook wireless adapter in my Gateway
5300 to replace a WPC54g(V1) that died. Following Linksys' instructions, I
successfully configured the new card for WPA-AES using the same profile I had
been using with the old card. It worked fine.
Then I switched the card over to the Windows wireless manager, but the only
security options it now offers are no encryption or WEP. I had been using
WPA-TKIP fine on this Windows manager with the old card. Something's gotten
lost.
I'm back on the none too friendly Linksys manager with WPA-AES. The OS is XP
home, SP2; adapter driver is the latest version (Linksys 3.100.64.0). The
access point is Linksys WAP54 with firmware 2.08 (also latest). Two other
XP-HE machines in the house talk WPA-AES with it just fine. I've tried to
install the obvious Microsoft WPA patches, but they say my machine is up to
date and signs off. Any ideas?
