Windows Xp repair problem

I have some problems with my windows so I tried to repair it, but when I
booted with the CD, there was only the following options: install windows,
delete partition, exit.....so I pressed install windows (usually, you can
press R and repair but it wasn't there)... so all it did is install a new
windows so now when it boots, I have to choose between the two.... 1st: how
can I delete the other windows I installed and that I don't want...2nd: can I
repair my current windows not by booting the cd?

thanks

i think this might solve your problem i couldnt find a way to detete the
extra os system but this sort of bypasses it

1. Right-click My Computer and choose Properties.
2. Click the Advanced tab, and click the Settings button under Startup
and Recovery.
3. In the System Startup area, click Edit.
4. After the /fastdetect entry under [operating systems] systems], ,
add a space and //SOS SOS. It should look something like this, although
.. systems vary:
[boot loader]
timeout=3
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS=
â€Microsoft Windows XP Professional†/fastdetect /
SOS
5. Click File | Save. Click OK to apply and close the System Properties
dialog box.
6. Restart the computer and the splash screen will be gone.

I changed my time out to 0 and it bypasses it straight away hope this helps
