Windows XP Pro-Windows Explorer crashes when trying to view video

Usually Windows Explorer works well, but no I have an issue when I try to
view the files in a video folder Windows Explorer will freeze up and I have
to alt+ctrl+del the close the program. I have read there is a problem with
Windows Explorer and video files and was wondering if there is a fix for
this? Any ideas? I would love to clean out the video folder but I just
cannot get in there to do this using XP Pro. Thanks!

What kind of files - .avi perhaps? If so run the edit on Kelly's site:

Line 74: AVI Search Remove

See the top of the page for info on running the edit.

Thanks Rock. I tried both of these and I still get Windows Explorer crashing
when I try to view folders with video files in them.

See if any of the installed codecs or active x handlers are causing a
problem.

View installed Codec and ActiveX filters and enable / disable them:

You could also try selectively disabling some of the context menu handlers.

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers
