windows xp login/password

We have an win xp home edition computer. My neice put in a
userid/password..why? don't know. She has forgotten what
she used and we have tried everything to get it to work.
This is a hp and they said they couldn't help me with
password and couldn't restore computer to when we first
purchased it. We cannot get to the desktop, control panel
so we can change user acct. I don't have a
restore/recovery disk. Can anyone help me to figure this
out b/c we have been down for about 2 weeks now and I
really need to get on my computer. If anyone can provide
any suggestions, I will appreciate it.

If this was done on the administrator user and no other
other users were created. you have to redo the computer
from scratch. No way around this unless you can get in
with another user with admin rights.
