Windows XP and HP Laserjet 1012

I recently reinstalled Windows XP, but I am having trouble printing to my HP
Laserjet 1012 printer. My computer would not initiate the plug-and-play
feature when I hooked up the printer through the USB port , so I used the
printer CD and the Windows Install Wizard to add the printer to my computer.
(The plug-and-play feature of connecting my printer worked fine on my
computer before I reinstalled the operating system). The correct printer
icon appears in my printer folder, but it appears that the computer still
will not communicate with the printer. I went through all the troubleshoot
pages and nothing worked. If I right click on the printer icon, go into
properties, and click test page, no test page will print. I tried to print
from Command Prompt as recommended by Troubleshoot but still nothing.

I would greatly appreciate any insight into my problem. Thanks in advance.

have you checked out
the hp website?

you can look up the
model number and download
patches and or updates and or
possibly look for a resolution to issues
like this one...

I tried checking hp's website, but there was nothing that seemed to
correspond to my problem. Any other suggestions?
