Windows Updates

I am running XP Pro. I go the Windows Update site and
select an available update for my system, such
as "820291: Recommended Update (Windows XP". I select I
accept the license agreement and the Downloading Progress
and Install Progress bars are displayed but it never
progresses beyond that. The download never starts. And,
It does not matter which download(s) I select. The same
problem occurs. The most recent thing I had done was
installing XP SP-1. That was done about three weeks ago.
Any suggestions on this update issue will be well
appreciated.
