Windows updates

I am running W2K on a dell laptop and every attempt to
access the Windows Update site ends with a timeout and a
message that the site could not be reached. The process
starts by showing that the scan is 33% and then 66%
complete, a list showing the number of available updates
is displayed and the system times out after I select the
Review and Install Updates link.

PS - I have read a article stating that the problem can be
resolved by copying the iuident.cab file from Program
Files\Windowsupdate\V4 to Program Files\Windowsupdate\V4
\Temp, however, I could not find the Windowsupdate
directory anywhere on the C: drive.

Thanks

Rafi,

Did you see an error code from the scan?

"C:\Program Files\Windowsupdate" is a hidden folder, did you enable
"hidden and system folders" in your search, or under Tools - Folder
Options?

Cheers,

Chuck
