I am running XP Pro on my PC and have downloaded all of
the relevant updates from the Microsoft website. As
broadband is not yet available in my area, this has taken
several hours to accomplish.

I have now bought a PC for my wife, running XP Home. Is
it possible to use the files I have already downloaded to
update my wife's PC?

Ian,

If the updates you did on your computers were from separately downloaded update
files, and you can find those downloads on your computer, then you should be
able to copy them to your wife's computer, run them, and update your wife's
computer.

Congrats on your vision. Most us would just apply the updates directly from M$
Windows Update. Which is why M$ makes it easy to find the directly applied
updates, and harder to find the update files.

You'll still be well advised to make a separate run on your wife's computer,
from Windows Update, and see if any updates apply to XP Home, that you didn't
apply to your XP Pro, after you finish catching hers up to yours.

Cheers,
Chuck
