Windows Update Explorer window closing by itself

Several days ago, my PC blue screened, so I wrote the message down and
rebooted. Everything seemed OK after that and I continued to work. It's
several days later now, and when I try to go to Windows Update, the Internet
Explorer window closes after several seconds. Also, my Norton Anti-virus
software says it cannot start because of the following message: "The
application or DLL c:\program files\norton antivirus\naverror.dll is not a
valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."
Finally, most of my Windows programs are not able to run now (ie -
Calculator, Windows Explorer, System Information). I have downloaded a
spyware detector and it found nothing, and my Norton Antivirus software (even
though crippled) will still run, but has not detected any kind of a virus.

Have you tried the Restore on your system?
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
You can go back up to 90 days if you still have restore points or created one.

Hi Byte,
Yes I have and it is one of the Windows programs that was affected by this
"thing" going on. Any other ideas as to what I can try?

Thanks,
Scott
