See if Windows Messenger is on the Start, Programs list. It will be listed
by itself as a program not in a folder.
If it is listed on the Start, Programs list, click on it and it will start.

Preferences tab
Check all the boxes.
If it is not listed on the Start, Programs list,
Start
Settings
Control Panel
Add, Remove Programs
On the left, select Add/Remove Windows components
Scroll down to the bottom of the list to Windows Messenger
Next, It will install and then click Finish.
Reboot
Windows Messenger should now be in the Systray, if not proceed with the
first instructions.
