When I startup my computer too many programs start automatically - like yahoo
messenger, google messenger, real player etc - Because of that it takes too
much time to load windows. How do I stop all these programs starting
automatically whenever I restart my computer?

First, check each programs internal options for this setting. Many programs have such an option. If you're unable to find the option there, click Start, Run and enter MSCONFIG Go to the Startup tab. You can disable items there, as well.

You can see what is starting and from where via msconfig. Click on Start,
Run, type msconfig and press Enter. The last tab will show you what is
starting and let you disable specific items.

Once you're sure of what you want to remove, re-enable them and use the
location information to remove the startup commands from the registry or
startup group.

Open each application and check it's Options for anything related or similar
to "Start on boot".
If the option is not available in the application, you have knowledge of and
feel comfortable working in the registry, you could remove the entries for
startup items under:
hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\current version\run
hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\current version\RunOnce
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\current version\run
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\current version\RunOnce
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\current version\RunOnceEx
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\current version\RunServices
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\current version\RunServicesOnce

If you are not the administrator you will need administrative rights to edit the
registry, boot to Safe Mode and login as the administrator.
