After downloading and installing Windows Messenger 5.0.0468 from the Microsoft Office Update page, thinking it was an update for Version 4.7.2009 that was installed on my XP Home Edition, MSN Explorer 7.02 failed to function which I use primarily for e-mail
When WM 5.0 was uninstalled and WM 4.7 reinstalled, the MSN Explorer issue was resolved, however, I began experiencing the problem with the Windows Installer launching when attemtping to use Adobe Reader 6.0.1. After five days of growing frustration and trying to pull hair out of a shaved head, I discovered and read through the postings here in the Expert Zone Newsgroups. The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility was downloaded and installed, and after deleting WM 5.0 from the list, operations returned to 'pre-disaster' status
