windows media player 10

i have a fresh install of win 2000 with all updates. While doing the updates
it updated to windows media player 9. Will windows media player install and
operate in win 2000. If so how can i get it, because it is not in the windows
updates portion.

I don't think it is available for Win2K and I have doubts it will.

I downloaded the EXE version and it was only for WinXP.

I too doubt that it will be available for Win 2K, perhaps Microsoft's simple
prodding to get Win2k users to update, perhaps?
The whole thing looks dubious to me.

Same with IE6/OE6 SP2. I understand it will NOT be available for WinME and Win2K.

maybe I'm confused but I have 2k on the LT I'm typing on right now, and
Media player 9, installed and running.

WMP10 is not available for Win2K.
WMP9 is available for; Win98, WinME, Win2K and WinXP.

I doubt WMP 10 will have much difference over WMP 9 anyway. In reality,
WMP 10 is probably just intentionally crippled so that it won't install on
anything other than XP. It is typical M$ "See, this will only work on XP"
crap to get you to upgrade to XP.
