Laptop Running Windows 2000 SP4 and Media Player 9. Have
all of the latest critical updates and recommended updates.

When trying to go to a website to listen to straming audio
(.asx page) media player crashes.
-----------------
wmplayer.exe has caused and error and needs to shut down
----------------

Uninstalled and installed media player 7.1. I get the
same error.

A desktop running Windows 2000 SP4 and Media Player 9 can
listen to the audio just fine. A exact same latop running
media player 6.4 can listen to the audio just fine.
(both laptops are almost identical, running same verions
of anti-virus and other programs).

Tried to install media player 6.4 from microsoft website
and it will not install. Says that it will not install
for Windows 2000 and a version will be made available at a
later date.

I don't know if there are any settings in media player or
in IE that I can change to make it work?

Can I reinstall Media Player 6.4 for Win2000?

any other ideas?

there. and now the webpages work fine.

Still...I would like to know why Windows barfed with MP 9
