Windows file protection

David

I have a bit of a problem with windows XP. I keep getting
an error message which says:-

"Files that are required for Windows to run properly have
been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system
stability, Windows must restore the original version of
these files.

Insert your Windows XP Home Edition CD-Rom now"

Normally I would be more than happy to insert my CD,
however I do not have a CD-ROM because windows XP came
preinstalled on my PC. Help!!

Thanks

David

Hi David,

Redirect it to the I386 folder on the hard drive, likely it's under
C:\Windows.

Hi David,

Check what is listed here: Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Setup.

In the right pane: ServicePackSourcePath and SourcePath.

Other than that, point it to your i386 folder under Windows.
