Windows Explorer: blank/empty search window

J

jake.pinneberg

Under Windows XP SP3, everything seems normal except for the Search
Assistant window of Windows Explorer. It contains nothing but a
cancellation
'x' in the upper right!

I've checked the registry per Microsoft support, and the keys look
perfect.
The explorer.exe is identical to one that works in a different
computer.

Any suggestions, anyone?

Thanks in advance!

All three regsrv32's reported "success" -- but they didn't solve the
problem.
Same behavior. Any more suggestions out there?

Thanks again,
Jake

Several dialog boxes are blank (similar to the other suggestion, but
with other repair suggestions):
