I now have the 64 bit ISO, 3.15GB, will try for 32 Bit later today.

It's a little large to host but I can post a copy if anybody wants to PM me.

I didn't notice an md5sum check, is there one?

And I haven't actually burnt a DVD yet.

Now how do we get the key for this thing?

I'm going to install it (all being well) on a spare internal hard disk caddy so it can have the machine to itself but I'll assume this can be loaded as a dual boot setup with XP or Vista?

The MD5's should (apparently, but not confirmed) be:

32 Bit : f9dce6ebd0a63930b44d8ae802b63825
64 Bit : 773fc9cc60338c612af716a2a14f177d

It you try the links I posted a few mins back there should be a link to the 64bit key site - just keep refreshing it till one appears :) Got mine now :thumb:

All I get when I click on the links is directed back to the standard Welcome to Windows 7 page

Me too

I've just installed this Windows live crapola, unticked all their spying options, not too happy about that but if that's what it takes.

And it didn't recognise my Windows Live ID from Halo 2 or my old MSN ID, which I haven't used for at least two years. I had to create a new ID. Odd.

Just out of interest I tried connecting to MSN with my new ID.

Windows Live, in all it's efficiency, tells me it's the wrong ID.

This is very typically Microsoft. I honestly don't know why I bother.

Would have been nice to see if Win7 improved on Vista though.

And as a sidenote I installed my evaluation copy of Win Vista 64 Bit Ultimate the other day - which I have successfully run before on a different machine - and it wouldn't work correctly. I could access neither the desktop personalise settings or the Control Panel.

I tried three different installs, reformatting each time and installed video drivers. No go.

Frustrating.

Hehe :D

Ok, just tried the 'Forgotten Password?' routine and MSN/Windows live haven't replied.

I tested the e-mail account I'm using - Gmail - and it's working fine.

MS really are a pile of poo.

Just figured out why, you need to be signed in to http://technet.microsoft.com for it to work (which should be using your hotmail/live.com details).

The page should then stop redirecting you, and you'll need to refresh a few times to get the key :thumb:

Not working for me because, I would assume, I don't have a technet subscription number or ID

Is there anyway I can delete all Windows live ID details and start afresh cos this is driving me totally nutz

I keep getting either 'Can't connect' or an error Window when I try to connect to MSN.

I'm using my AMD/XP machine which is otherwise working fine. I have also just installed all the MS updates, all 200Mb of them.

I'd hate to think I've installed all this Windows live bloaty rubbish for nothing. Odds are I won't be able to uninstall it either.

All help very much apreciated :wall:

Aha, I think I've sussed why I can't get onto MSN - they charge for it now

I tried to install it on my media machine and couldn't get past a window asking me for money. WTF?

Phoned a mate of mine who tells me this is so and has been for about a year now.

Well Microsoft can go take a running jump, MSN was at best a virus anyway and they want me to pay to use that crap? Go to hell Steve Ballmer.

Are all you lot paying £6.99 a month for that biggest source of computer viruses?

Oh well, looks like I'm buggered for Windows 7 :(

Just how much of your life does Microsoft want?

Thair attitude sucks.

Back to Linux Mint I think.

Hmm, seems all is not lost, I've managed to log on to Windows Live on my Vista machine with the ID details I used to install/create Windows Live today.

Maybe there's a software problem on my XP install on the other machine, although there isn't that much software on it. I'm currently defragging that one btw, it was in a helluva mess.

Anyhow, now I'm logged into Windows Live, wondering how to get this activation code? I shall try again.

Has anybody else apart from Ian managed to get an activation code?

Why do I feel all alone in this thread? Strange.

I go to Ian's link

Enter Live ID details, e-mail address and password.

Up comes a window - Technet Registration.

They want to know:

1) First name - no prob
2) Second name - no prob
3) E-Mail address - no prob
4) Benefit Access Number (Benefit Access Number, Subscriber ID, or MSPP Technical Contact ID)

The last one's got me beat

Stalemate it seems, unless anybody here can help. But going by past response here, that seems unlikely too...

Looks as though I may have to seek help elsewhere.

A subscription to Technet is £234.00 + VAT a year.

I'm not paying that.

Snookered.

Have both 32 & 64 if anyone wants a dvd.

Will try an install later.

You have activation code(s)?

I have the 64 Bit version ISO but it ain't much use without a code.

If you're going to host the 32 Bit version please PM me details but no need to post it by Royal mail, no code = no install.
