windows 2000 pro screen resulation

i have just instaled win 2000 pro, and my screen
resulation is only 640 x 480, and i only get 16 colors.
the most important thing is that there is a 2 in black
line around my window.

Pop in the CD you received with your PC or motherboard,
then install the correct video driver. You should then be
able to increase the resolution (or is it "resulation"?) to
1024 x 768.

Have you already tried Start/Settings/Control
Panel/Display, Settings tab? Just move the slider to
whatever resolution you want.

Also sounds like maybe you need to adjust your screen
width on the monitor itself.
