Win2K SP4 Network Edition Aborts Install

H

Henry Smith

Followed your suggestion and downloaded network version of SP4 (130Mb).

Performed an UNINSTALL of all non-essential programs including Norton
Antivirus just to make sure nothing would interfere with the SP4 install.

Ran the SP4 installation and still get install abort during what appears to
be
the beginning of the Setup process.
Error msg: "Unable to connect to metabase."
I click OK and receive this error message:
"Setup failed to remove ISM.DLL script mappings. Service pack setup will
abort."
I click OK and then another error message is displayed telling me that the
setup process did not complete and I should perform a repair process.

What is a metabase?
What is ISM.DLL script mappings?
Is there any process I can perform to help windows complete this SP4
install?

Any additional help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Henry
