Installing SP4 on W2000 - error: unable to connect to metabase

Willi Gerhard

I try to install SP4. On step "Running process after
installation" i receive the error "unable to connect to
metabase" and "Setup failed to remove ism.dll script
mappings. Service Pack will abort".
I have tried it with express and network install -
download.

Maybe someone has any idea ?

Kind regards, Willi

Willi,
I had the same.
I resolved the prob. by doing the following:
making an image of the windows partition (e.g. with ghost)
Re-installing Win2000 incl. SP1 under the repair option
(otherwise you will loose your data)
This created/repaired the metabase I think.
Then install SP4
It went smooth though time consuming

Have fun

I ran into the same problem.

Just checking to see if anyone has discovered another solution that is
less time consuming ?
